Direct feedback in viewfinder

With the former version of the unleashed you always had a direct feedback in the viewfinder (GPS symbol) if the GPS connection was active or not. Not anymore so. It would be great to have this feature back again.

The indicator is still there, if your camera supports it. Not in the viewfinder, but in the top LCD of your Camera.

Unfortunately Nikon changed the [GPS] Letters with a Satellite icon with the D810, but removed it from the top LCD on the D850 entirely. You can still find it on the INFO screen of the main Display though. Same applies to other newer Nikons.

When the optional USB cable is not plugged in, The new Unleashed stops sending GPS data to the camera when the app is being actively used, and will send it "just in time" if you trigger from the app, and have GPS Priority set to "GPS", or if you half-press the shutterbutton on the camera (and keep it half-pressed for about half a second). When the app is in the background or when you have the USB cable plugged in, the Unleashed sends GPS data to the camera whenever the meter is on, so you should see the GPS icon just as you did with the Unleashed '09.

This is because the camera supports both the GPS protocol and another protocol used for Settings on the same pins. When the app is in the foreground and actively being used, we use those pins for getting and setting settings (and not GPS) when you trigger with GPS priority, we have to stop getting settings, switch to the GPS protocol, send one set of GPS data to the camera, then take the photo. this can take anywhere between 200 and 600ms.

I hope this helps!

This helps indeed, so I have to blame Nikon for it! Thanks for the explanation!
