Hi Oliver,
I’ve tried your suggestion and used compressed air, but it doesn’t seem to solve the problem.
well, the temperature... I do have that kind of thermomerer but honestly I do not consider it the most accurate one... So it shows starting (room) temperature 25,6 °C, temperature in inactive state between 37,2 and 39,6 °C (but also 41,2 °C once or twice), and after 10 minutes of activity the thermometer shows temperetures between 39,6 and 41,7 °C... So there are not big differencies between active and inactive state (at least according to my thermometer...). So what’s next — shall I send the Unleashed to you for testing?
Thanks

P.S. you mention a possibility of fallen objects in open slot — it seems to me quite vulnerable — maybe some kind of cap/plug would be nice?

I too can "confirm" that it began happening with that last firmware update. I upgraded about 10 days go. Last Monday my camera batter was 100% dead which is something I've never seen before. I swapped in a new one and went out to take a few photos. I took about 10-20 and made sure to kill the app afterwards (already suspecting the unleaded to be the issue). Today again the battery was 100% dead. I've never seen this before where the battery is so dead that it won't even flash the low battery alert. And this only started after the last firmware update.

I suspect it to be part of the C (1.3.1) or B (1.2.5) update because I haven't been able to update A to 1.3.2 - I am still on 1.2.0.

I have noticed that even with the phone powered off and the camera off, the Unleashed continues to flash with a red light every 5 seconds or so. I don't recall seeing this before. And with the camera off, I can still access the Unleashed, and starting the app with the camera off does allow the light to immediately go green. Is that normal? In fact, if you access the app with the camera off the indicator turns green and stays green (flashing) even if the app is subsequently killed.

I am resigned to have to take the Unleashed out of my camera at the end of each day, which is clearly not ideal.

Is there anyway to reset the firmware to an earlier version?

I'm using a Nikon 610

Hi jpmnyc,

the problem you see is not the new firmware - the new firmware brings great improvements to power use! The problem comes from the update A not having gone through. since A is at 1.2 and B is at 1.3, A does not yet support many of the power saving features, but B already tries to activate them. B doesn't go to power saving states until A confirms them, and so the two Versions being different is causing errors (hence the red pulsing of the LED). Please try the update a few more times - we've done lots of work to improve installing update A, and though it's not 100% perfect yet, it works much better, but still takes a few tries on a handful of Unleasheds.

if the Problem persists, we'll fix or swap your Unleashed.

thanks for the info, and great you had a thermometer like that.
no, the thermometers are not perfect, but for measuring a temperature increase, quite sufficient. An increase of 10-15 degrees seems a little high for regular use (while updating the firmware, or maybe during intensive use, such as downloading thumbnails, I'd expect some heat to be generated, but even then I'd not expect to notice it)

please send an email to support@foolography.com with a link to this thread, and we'll send you RMA instructions for sending the unit back.

Sorry for the trouble, and thanks for your cooperation in finding the issue!
