Android App was updated today, Firmware update is scheduled to be released tomorrow.

Whenever there's a Firmware update available, you'll see a red notification badge on the menu icon in the bottom left corner of the app. Follow this notification badge through the app to get to the firmware update screen.
App menu (bottom left) → Unleashed with gear icon (bottom left) → tap on your Unleashed (near top ) → tap "Firmware"
Scroll down and tap "Install Update". With the Unleashed M, you need to keep the camera awake, so that the Unleashed stays powered during the entire update. To keep the camera from entering standby, half-press the cameras's shutterbutton continuously or regularly until the update is done. This only takes a little over a minute.

Firmware update 3.0.2 was released just now. It fixes the issue on all the R series cameras we were able to test with!

I hope it will fix it for you too!

We made lots of other improvements too, such as Gallery on Canons with two card slots, Geotagging on Canon R series, and more!

When does the new FW come online?

And FW release notes can we see or read them somewhere?

It's already online. You should see a red notification badge in the app. If you don't already see it, you can just restart the app, and it should be there. When you follow the red notification badge to the firmware update screen, you'll see the release notes there.

With the Unleashed M, you need to keep the camera awake, so that the Unleashed stays powered during the entire update. To keep the camera from entering standby, half-press the cameras's shutterbutton continuously or regularly until the update is done.

I did the firmware update but it looks really weird as the problem doesn't looks solved.

Camera is freezing and the only solution is to take out the battery.

For me it does work after this update.

Shouldn't there be a preview on app what camera sees?

That's great to hear!

We do have Image Review, where you can get a smaller "preview" image after you take a shot. But we don't support live-view, if that's what you're looking for.
We try to be as clear as possible about this, but unfortunately it is still misunderstood by many, because once you assume it should have live-view, it's easy to interpret what we write to support that assumption.

The name for a lower resolution version of the original image on the SD-card is "Preview Image", so that might come up here and there in our texts, but we did rename the feature to "Image Review" rather than "Preview" many years ago to avoid such misunderstandings...

Especially on Canon Live-view is simply not feasible via Bluetooth Low Energy. The smallest live-view frame on Canon is around 200KB so even if we got to the absolute theoretical maximum of Bluetooth Low Energy, we could still do less than one frame per second. And in reality, the best we could do was closer to one frame every 3 seconds. Since we know we would have gotten even more complaints about this, we decided against offering a sub-par feature.
