Plugging in the Unleashed

This tutorial explains how to correctly plug the Unleashed into your camera. Feel free to skip to the part of the video relevant to your Unleashed model:

  • N2: from 1:06
  • C1: from 1:45
  • C2: from 2:12
  • Unleashed M for Canon, Nikon, Sony or Fujfilm cameras

    1. Snap the magnetic USB plug onto the back of the Unleashed.

    2. If you’re looking at the front of the Unleashed, with the logo facing toward you and the socket at the top, plug the cable into the the Unleashed so that the cable points toward the right. This is critical for the Unleashed to function properly.

    3. Plug the Unleashed into your camera’s USB port and the HDMI cable into the HDMI port.

Should the HDMI plug be too close to the Unleashed, you can rotate the Unleashed (on the magnetic plug) by 90º or 180º to make space. The magnetic connection protects both the plug and the camera port, even when you knock it during transport or use. Don’t worry, the Unleashed will always remain attached via the HDMI cable, so you won’t lose it.

Note: If your camera has a Micro-USB 3.0 Socket, the Micro-USB 2.0 magnetic plug fits into the wider half of the Micro-USB 3.0 socket. It is designed to be backwards-compatible and will work perfectly.
If you like, you can loop the HDMI cable behind the Unleashed.

    1. Looking at the front of the Unleashed, with the logo facing toward you and the socket at the top, plug the USB cable into the Unleashed so that the cable points toward the right. This is critical for the Unleashed to function properly.

    2. Plug the Unleashed into the round remote socket on the front of your camera. Don’t worry if it’s a little hard to plug in. The Unleashed is designed to stay on the camera at all times so we made it a tight fit. Wiggling it a little can help while plugging it in.

    3. Plug the other end of the cable into the USB port of your camera. If it has a Micro-USB 3.0 Socket, don’t worry – the Micro-USB 2.0 plug fits into the wider (bottom) half of the Micro-USB 3.0 socket (as illustrated below and at 0:43 of the video).

Unleashed N2 for Nikon cameras with a rectangular 10-pin accessory terminal

    1. Looking at the front of the Unleashed, with the logo facing toward you and the socket at the top, plug the USB cable into the Unleashed so that the cable points toward the left (as illustrated below and 1:29 of the video). This is critical for the Unleashed to function properly.

    2. Plug the Unleashed into the rectangular remote socket on the side of the camera.

    3. Plug the other end of the cable into the USB port of your camera. If it has a Micro-USB 3.0 Socket, don’t worry – the Micro-USB 2.0 plug fits into the wider (bottom) half of the Micro-USB 3.0 socket (as illustrated above and at 0:43 of the video).

Turn on your camera to power the Unleashed. You don’t need to charge the Unleashed as it’s powered by a tiny amount of power from your camera battery. Next, start the app and pair your Unleashed, as described in the pairing tutorial.
