Getting Started

Plugging the Entagged into the camera

Make sure you have the correct Entagged for your camera. You can check the compatibility list here.

1. Plug the Entagged into your camera.

a. For Canon users: The Entagged for Canon has to plugs, one USB and one HDMI. Note: On cameras with USB 3.0 ports, the Micro-USB plug fits into the bottom half of the socket. Start by plugging in the USB plug a tiny bit. Then adjust the Entagged until the HDMI plug fits. Then push both plugs all the way in.

b. For Nikon users (Entagged N1):
1. Plug the Entagged into the round remote socket in the front. Don’t worry if it’s a little hard to push in. The Entagged is designed to stay on the camera all the time so we made it a tight fit.
2. Move the rubber flap away or just remove it entirely.
3. Plug in the small additional cable. First, the square plug into the Entagged so the cable points away from the lens.
4. Plug the other end of the cable into the camera. On cameras with USB 3.0 ports, the Micro-USB plug fits into the bottom half of the socket.

c. For Nikon users (Entagged N2):
1. Plug the Entagged into the square remote socket on the side of the camera. The Entagged is designed to stay on the camera all the time so we made it a tight fit.
2. Plug in the small additional cable. Plug the USB plug into the USB socket of the camera.
3. Plug in the other end of the cable into the Entagged. The cable needs to point towards the front of the camera.

2. Turn on your camera to activate the Entagged. You don’t need to charge the Entagged as it’s powered by a tiny amount of power from your camera battery.

Pairing the Entagged to a phone

Initial pairing (first app start)

1. Plug in your Entagged and turn on your camera. The Entagged’s LED will light up yellow when it is plugged into the camera correctly and is getting power.

2. Download and install the free Entagged app from the Apple AppStore or the Google Play Store.

3. Open the app and allow Bluetooth Access.

4. Read through the first on-boarding screens by swiping left. Tap “START SEARCHING”.

5. The app will continuously search for Entaggeds to pair with. It’s so quick, your Entagged might already be there from the start.

6. Just tap on the Entagged you want to pair. If the pairing was successful, a check mark will appear. Tap “DONE”.

7. Make sure you allow the app to use your phone’s camera. The app uses your phone’s camera as a barcode scanner.

8. From now on the Entagged will always automatically reconnect with your phone when you turn on your camera. When it is connected to the app, the Entagged’s LED will light up turquoise.

Pairing another Entagged from within the app

If you’ve already paired an Entagged, here’s how to pair additional Entaggeds or pair an Entagged again after unpairing it:

1. Plug in your Entagged and turn on your camera. The Entagged’s LED will light up yellow when it is plugged into the camera correctly and is getting power.

2. Navigate to the “YOUR ENTAGGEDS” screen by tapping the Entagged settings icon at the bottom of the app menu.

3. In the “YOUR ENTAGGEDS” screen, the app will continuously search for Entaggeds to pair with. It’s so quick, your Entagged might already be there from the start.

4.Just tap on the Entagged you want to pair. If the pairing was successful, the Entagged will move to the top area of the screen and its name will change from the Entagged’s serial number to your camera’s model name.

5. From now on the Entagged will always automatically reconnect with your phone when you switch on your camera. When it is connected to a phone or tablet, the LED in the Entagged will shine turquoise.

The switch to the right of each Entagged lets you disable and reenable them manually if necessary. The Entagged can only be connected to one app at a time, so if you want to pair and use it with a second phone or tablet, you need to disable it on the first phone or unpair it.

If no Entaggeds are enabled, the app will automatically switch to a “Virtual Entagged” indicated at the top of each main screen. This is exclusively a demo mode to test app features or to show a friend or colleague how the app works, when you don’t have an Entagged connected. Beware that no codes will be sent to the camera!

Unairing an Entagged

1. Navigate to the “YOUR ENTAGGEDS” screen by tapping the Entagged settings icon at the bottom of the app menu.

2. Tap on the Entagged you want to unpair. You can also unpair Entaggeds that are not currently connected.

3. Tap “Unpair Entagged”.
